Green Office Furniture – A New Approach Towards A Greener Planet

In this era of ruthless attack of pollution and deteriorating forest cover on the planet, the urgency to go green is greater than ever. Using green office furniture is one of the latest steps in this respect and it can go a long way in developing an eco friendly business.

Establishment of modular offices can go a long way in conservation of nature. Such an office requires a lot less material and hence helps protect trees. Modular offices save not only the trees but also the funds that a company has to invest for a new office. Modular offices are quite inexpensive, and their rents are lower as they take up lesser floor area.

Buying recycled or second hand office furniture is another way of helping the environment and making an office green. This kind of furniture usually requires only small modifications and fulfils the requirements of most offices perfectly. Because of the present economic slump, several organizations are out of work and are selling their furniture at very low rates, which presents an excellent opportunity to save office costs. The non-renewable resources of the earth are conserved by use of such furniture, without compromising on quality and comfort.

Even new furniture can be as environment friendly as used one if you are conscious of some key considerations before making a purchase. The furniture materials must be recyclable and must have been created locally so that moving them from one destination to another would not lead to large emissions.

Never buy furniture with foams whose production has released poisonous chemicals like CFCs into the air, which are known to deplete the ozone layer. The furniture must have been created from trees with maturity period of less than 10 years as they reduce the impact on the environment. Lastly, you must be frugal and buy only the minimum furniture that would fulfil your requirements.
