Have you heard about the blog… So what is blogging about? It is short for web log. It is simply a method you can write online for others to read. People utilize the blog to let others keep up with what is going with their lives. Years ago people would send out a newsletter by regular mail, or snail mail, to let their friends or relatives know what was going on with them.

Now most internet experienced people use a blog. They create a blog and let people visit their blog to read their latest entry. But people figured if they could use a blog for personal reasons they could use a blog for business reasons. They started promoting products with their blogs. So what started as a way to write personal messages on the internet has become one of the best ways to promote products and make money on the internet.

But then people figured they could use the blog for business reasons. And this is a great way to promote your products or affiliate products because you do not need to spend money on hosting as you would do for a website. Affiliate products are those products you promote for others and you earn a commission when you lead someone online to buy that product.

You can use your blog to do a product review about the affiliate product or you can simply talk about how the product has helped you and how it can help others. You put a link in your online post to the product you are promoting. People then click on the link and go to that page. Since you are signed up with that product owner as an affiliate you get a link with an identifying tag so the product owner knows that you sent the customer to his site.

This is a good alternative to building a website especially if you are new to this type of marketing on the internet. Building a website might be new to you and you want to focus on marketing not the technical part of building a website. And there are a lot of blog hosting companies you can sign up for free with and start building one right away.

They provide the template and also the different backgrounds and styles to choose from. Before you know it you will have a great looking professional appearing internet presence. You will not have the cost of a website or have to go through the trouble of building one.

The advantage also is that you will be adding new and fresh content a regular basis. The search engines love this. So you will be ranked high on the search engines which means more traffic to your site.

So if you have an online business and you do not yet have a blog start one today. Even if you have a website you can benefit from a blog because you can always link your blog to your website. All the new traffic to your blog will be interested in going to your website for your product information. You will increase your sales no matter how you choose to use your blog.
