Signs That A Home Is Infested With Bed Bugs
Bed bugs primarily feast on human blood. Keeping this in mind, you must be always on alert that these creatures should not be able to enter your home. However, if your pest control measures may have been inadequate, it is possible that a bed bug may have already invaded your residence without you being aware of it.
You may wonder what the signs and symptoms of a bed bug infestation are. There are two common signs, and they are the following:
1. Rash From Bed Bugs
Itching is the first sign of a bed bug rash. The rash will not be visible but you’ll be able to feel the itch. They are itchier than mosquito bites, and the itch can only be felt after a long time (minimum of one hour). Sometimes, the bed bug rash appears only a few days or weeks later.
A bed bug rash has a small, round and red bump that looks more swollen than a mosquito rash. Sometimes, the rash looks a lot like a sequential bite mark. If you suspect a bed bug rash, a few days of examining it wouldn’t hurt. The rash causes long-term itching for days together. A bed bug rash also doesn’t heal as quickly as mosquito bites. Sometimes, they remain swollen for weeks.
2. Smell of Bed Bugs
The next tell tale sign is bed bug smell. How do bed bugs smell like?
A place where there’s a lot of bed bug infestation has an obnoxious, musty smell that bed bugs release. Under the mattresses and headboard are common places where they can be smelled. Sofas are also sometimes infested with bed bugs. If they have cracks, check if they’ve got bed bug odor.
You must contact pest control experts immediately if you discover your house is invaded by bed bugs. After, you should create pest control rules to stop bed bugs from coming back.
