How To Build A Website That Makes You Money
You cannot hope to be successful online without a website. This is something you probably know by now. Of course, simply putting up a static page is not enough to sell things. You need to make sure that your website is good and well received by site visitors before you will see a single dollar in your PayPal account. If you haven’t built many websites it may seem challenging, but it really isn’t that hard to create a good site that will bring customers. Follow these tips to make your website the kind that people will buy from.
Double check your code. While you may use one of the widely available free templates to create your website, you’ll probably want to make some modifications to the code to make the site unique. This is a fairly simple task, and there is no need to know that much about coding to change your site around. The thing about coding, however is that it has to be exact; check for any breaks, typos or other mistakes that could cause big problems in your site. If you have a problem loading your website, or if it does not look the way it should, it could be because the coding was not correctly entered. Check your site through the CSS Validator to make sure you aren’t missing some major mistakes.
Don’t go overboard with the fonts. Using many different fonts is a temptation that many new website builders give in to. Using many different fonts, however, makes your website harder to read. Using more than a couple of different fonts will also label you as a beginner, and people will take your offers less seriously. The fonts you do use should be easy to read. Anything too curly, swirly or based on pictures is a bad idea. If the purpose of your site is to sell products or services, people have to be able to easily read it. It’s fun to be artistic and creative, but for a commercial site, simplicity and readability are paramount.
Along the same lines, don’t use popup windows on your website. When your visitors have to deal with a popup window demanding their e-mail address, before they have even had time to look over your site, they will probably just feel like leaving as soon as possible. Even though popups are designed to help your business, they will probably do just the opposite. It could cost you quite a few sales! Something else some websites do that you should not copy is having a popup window that makes it hard for someone to leave your site. If people want to leave your site, you should not try to stop them. Having popup windows that ask them if they really want to leave or try to sell them something on the way out will not make them feel like staying longer. Remember, when visitors leave there’s always a chance they will return at another time, but they won’t if you throw annoying popups in their faces.
It doesn’t need to be hard to make money online. If you have a good website you can sell just about anything online. As you know, making your site look as good as it can will depend on your efforts. The good news is that, the more work you put in to your website, the more likely you will be to make money. The suggestions we’ve given you are solid and proven to work, and having a high performing site is only good business sense.
