As an internet marketer you know that your website is your bread and butter. The place where you try to persuade visitors to either buy, or join your marketing list. You understand the importance of having a website that converts well. Yet… your blog or website will only be one aspect in your IM business. You also have to get people to visit your website if you want to make the sale. If nobody knows your website exists, how will they know that you have great stuff to sell them?

Start submitting your site to many good link directories. You want your site listed with as many actively moderated and privately owned directories as possible. You can do this without spending any money. Getting links from many directories can help to raise your website’s page rank. More importantly, because the sites are moderated and have to be approved, people who use these directories automatically trust the sites that are listed within them. This can give you some immediate traffic when visitors to these directories click through to look at your site.

One very effective technique is to write articles, and then post them to article directories and other places. You can also include links to your site, usually a couple, in the author resource, or bio, box at the end of your articles. You can submit to as many directories as you like. The trick, however, is to create enough unique articles that you do not accidentally trigger any “duplicate content” alarms that the directories might have. You’ll find a few directories that may ban you if you submit a lot of duplicate content. But this doesn’t need to be a problem with several new articles each week plus a good content spinner. As you keep doing this, your name will become recognizable as will your website, and your traffic numbers will reflect this.

Take some time and find some high quality newsletter publishers in your niche market area. Then, politely ask if you can submit some content to their newsletters. Offer to forego payment for the article in exchange for a couple of links to your websites. You’ll have greater success if your content is presented well and provides good value to their readers. You’ll never know unless you try, and it may lead to something really good.

Some marketers have trouble deciding what traffic generating tools or strategies to focus on, as there are so many to choose from. The best strategy, though, is to use as many different methods as you can, as this gives you the best chance for results. With just an hour or two a day, you can put together traffic generation campaigns that can bring in hundreds, if not thousands, of site visitors! The best part is that you’ll start making more sales as well!
