Internet Marketing Strategies For A Small Business Starting From Home
I’m often surprised how many home business owners start an online business with only a vague idea of what they are looking to achieve. This is why so many only manage to get a few commission checks,, sometimes not even covering the amount they spent in the first place. Whatever the size of your business, you need to decide upon a strategy right at the start.
An obvious way to come up with a strategy is to study what other successful marketers have been doing recently. Find out who the key influencers are, buy their products and study their methods. If your budget allows, buy the high-end products, that’s usually where the real secrets get revealed, and it will give you a great springboard to get in contact with that person and ask them for guidance.
Your newly found mentor may have the time and desire to help you. If not, don’t despair. It may come later, and you’ll be able to hook up with other ones as time goes by. For now, study your mentor’s techniques in detail. Learn, learn, learn. When you’ve studied for a few weeks, you should have a clear picture of where to get started.
So, where do you start? If you’re a network marketer, decide whether you want to use traditional methods, or mostly market online. Internet marketing is very appealing to many, yet be aware that becoming an online wizard does not happen overnight. It takes time to learn the tools, and find an approach that will be right for you.
If you decide to go down the online route, and are new to the internet, it’s advisable to learn the basics of one element first, for example Facebook, or Twitter, before moving on to master something new.
Within one month, you should already have mastered a couple of techniques, and started to explore 2 or 3 new ones. Of course this depends on your skillet, time available, and budget to purchase courses that will speed things up for you.
Give it a month or so, then turn back and look at what you’ve achieved. Are you starting to get market feedback ? If not, have you applied what you’ve learned and been consistent enough ?
Before you sit down to write your marketing strategy, ask yourself these questions:
What am I looking to achieve within the next 3 months, the next 6 months. And where do I see myself and this business in 10 years ?
Have I got the best marketing training available and do I use the best software and hardware ? If you’ve found out about new programmes that show better results, consider buying them.
Then jot down your own workflow. Take a piece of paper and jot down boxes and arrows, and connect pieces together. You won’t get the perfect plan right away, but soon enough you’ll have a plan that works and marks sense. Sleep on it. When you feel you’re happy this plan can stand on its feet, commit to it.
When launching a new campaign, ask yourself: Who am I trying to reach through my campaign? A campaign can be very specifically targeted or, at the other end of the scale, a campaign of general awareness about you and/or your business.
Reflect on your marketing message. What are your core values. What do you want those of your business to be ? Make sure your message is relevant to your offering, and appealing to your client.
Now put yourself in the prospect’s shoes and see whether the whole marketing experience he/she is subject to when coming in contact with you is pleasant and congruent with what he may have been looking for in the first place and whether your core values can be felt by the client ?
Now that you’ve found your voice and have a plan, implement your strategy in a well organised manner. Decide of review points so you can analyse your results and come up with adjustments. Don’t forget that some techniques take weeks to come to fruition, so don’t discard them just because they don’t work right away.
