Taking The Next Steps Into Video Marketing for Women Working from Home – Part 2
So, you’d like to get started in video marketing and run your own top home based business? Fantastic! You’re about to become one of the increasing number of women working from home, who rely on this valuable tool to help them in their business. Let me give you some tips.
I’ll be honest with you, it’s been hard graft at times, but I’ve learnt from where I went wrong, and hopefully the process will be a lot smoother for you!
If you’re feeling daunted by it, don’t be – there’s no need. If right now you’re thinking you won’t be able to stand in front of a camera and talk for two or three minutes, don’t let that put you off. The benefits are huge if you can master the art of video marketing.
Really, it honestly doesn’t matter if you’re feeling a little uneasy – that’s how it was for me, it’s how it was for the person before me and it’s how it will always be! The key thing to remember is that it does get better, and you never know if you don’t try.
I’ll take the liberty of assuming that in starting on this article you’ve already carried out your keyword research and identified your area of interest or your niche. If, not you might want to visit my site and read the previous article on video marketing.
The location for your video is really important, because it says a lot about you and whether you’re professional or not. Not everyone is lucky enough to have a tidy, light office, so perhaps consider an outdoors location. Either way, you must remember that the background has to remain relatively calm with minimal distractions for your viewers. Also, bear in mind the wind if you’re outside, as the last thing any of us want is for your hair to be blowing all over the place.
Now, how will you film it? Many of you may first reach for your tripod, but if there’s any way you can manage to convince a patient friend, spouse or partner to film for you then this will speed up the process, giving you extra time to relax at the end of the day. Either way, all you have to do really is ensure that you have a smooth video without visible judder. Perhaps you have a smartphone, so seriously consider using this, as it really makes the process so much easier. Many today even upload directly to YouTube from the phone.
Personally, the easiest method I’ve found is to get somebody to record me using my iPhone, and then once it’s on my MacBook Pro I can edit where necessary or just upload straight to YouTube, with virtually no hassle! (Believe me, that’s a blessing)
If standing and talking on camera frightens the life out of you, then don’t worry, it’s not the end of the world. Instead, perhaps record a voice-over to an informative set of slides? PowerPoint on PCs or Keynote on Apple Macs both work really well here.
Remember, video marketing is very popular and it’s a great way to get your messages out to your target market. Don’t forget your videos need to be entertaining, informative or educational or a combination of all. They must be attractive to the viewer and provide valuable content.
Sometimes I struggle to know just what to say on my videos, but the easiest way to get around this is to write an article before you shoot your video. You’ve been researching your article for a while so all the information is in your head, which will mean when you come to record that it’s all there without much effort. This is great usage of time and will really improve the quality of your videos. Aim for about three minutes, or, better still, a little shorter if possible!
Relaxing is critical here, as nobody likes to see a nervous person on video, it’s just painful to watch! Try to speak naturally with a regular cadence.
If possible, try not to use any kind of cue prompter at all, although if you really need to jog your memory, try some large bullet points on paper behind the camera. It’s best to make it look as though you’re looking at the camera the entire time, so don’t move your eyes and visibly read too much!
Don’t forget you need to say your keyword in your video and you’ll need to put your keyword in the title too. You will also need to put your keyword and other related keywords into the ‘tags’ section and make sure you include a link to your social media or website in the ‘description’ box along with details of your video. I put the link at the top of the box.
If like me, you want to be successful amongst the army of women working from home in an online job, and if you implement some of these strategies, they should get you off to a good start. I wish you good luck.
